Music Academy Individual Music Tuition Program 2021 Terms and Conditions
I understand that:
- My daughter is undertaking a program of individual tuition where regular attendance as well as practice between lessons is critical to her progress in her chosen instrument
- By commencing private instrumental lessons, my daughter is committing to a minimum of one term of tuition
- Lessons are offered during school hours, on a rotational basis, to minimise the amount of class time absent from a particular subject. Lessons are held in room H106, H107, H108 in the Hildegard Centre
- Each individual lesson will be 30-minutes in duration
- Each lesson will incur a fee of $42 per lesson. There are normally 9-10 lessons per term, yet this varies dependent on the length of the term
- Fees are charged by the term only. The Tutor will invoice me directly in the second week of term and I commit to pay the Tutor directly by the end of the fourth week of the term. No payments for individual lessons are processed by Mount St Benedict College. I understand that fees for early withdrawal from the program are not refundable. If I am experiencing financial difficulty, I need to discuss this matter directly with my daughter’s Instrumental Tutor
- Longer lessons are available for my daughter but must be negotiated between the Tutor and myself
- During Term One only, a group lesson (maximum of two students) will be offered to students who wish to trial a new instrument. The fee of $42 per lesson will be incurred for these lessons and I will be invoiced and responsible for payment of 50% of that amount, if the lesson is shared with another student
- Students may elect to undertake AMEB examinations. All entry requirements and fees for examinations are to be arranged and negotiated between my daughter’s Instrumental Tutor and myself
- By submitting this form, I give permission for my contact details (preferred email and phone contact) to be provided to the relevant Instrumental Tutor. The Instrumental Tutor will contact me directly to arrange a lesson time with my daughter. It is my responsibility to obtain the contact details of my daughter’s Instrumental Tutor
- If my daughter is absent from school on the day of her scheduled lesson, the Instrumental Tutor must be notified by the parent via the Instrumental Tutor’s mobile phone before 8:30am on the day of the lesson. Failure to do so will result in the lesson fee being charged
- If my daughter forgets to attend her scheduled lesson, Ms Dalla Fontana will try and contact your daughter. If my daughter is unable to be contacted and fails to attend the lesson, the lesson fee will be charged
- In the event of any last minute changes or emergencies, Instrumental Tutors will text myself (the parent) directly (not my daughter). It is requested that I contact my daughter with any important information via her school email account. It is a good habit that my daughter checks her emails early each morning to ensure important information is not missed. To ensure clear communication, it is requested that any email correspondence between myself and the Instrumental Tutor is copied to Ms Dalla Fontana, Creative and Performing Arts Assistant (kdallafontana@msb.nsw.edu.au)
- If my daughter decides to discontinue individual lessons in her chosen instrument, 4 weeks’ notice is required (i.e.:. 4 weeks before the end of a term). To confirm the discontinuation in lessons and change in arrangement, an email must be sent to the Instrumental Tutor from myself. It is requested that this email is copied to Ms Dalla Fontana, Creative and Performing Arts Assistant (kdallafontana@msb.nsw.edu.au) for accurate maintenance of College records
- From this activity, my daughter’s name and/or photograph may appear in College publications, including the College website, promotional brochures, newsletters and social media (photographs only)
- Some larger instruments are available for loan from the College. If students are interested in using a school instrument, Terms and Conditions apply
- Should my daughter destroy or lose any music or part of an instrument borrowed from the College, I understand that I will need to pay for the cost to replace or fix it
- A locker application form is available to those students with larger instruments. This must be completed and returned to Ms Dalla Fontana. Please note the flutes and clarinets should be locked in the student’s personal locker, not left on top or next to lockers. Cellos will need to be left at Student Services as the musical lockers will not accommodate these instruments.
By commencing a program of private instrumental lessons as part of the Mount St Benedict College Academy of Music, my daughter acknowledges and undertakes to:
- Understand that regular attendance as well as practice between lessons is critical to her progress in her chosen instrument
- Understand that by commencing private instrumental lessons, she is committing to a minimum of one term of tuition
- Recognise that lesson days may change throughout the year. This is dependent upon tutor availability and the number of new students to the College undertaking the program
- Arrive promptly to start all scheduled lessons on time. She needs to tell her class teacher 5 minutes before the lesson that she has to leave class for a music lesson. She then proceeds to the music tutorial rooms in the Hildegard Centre. Prior to the commencement of the lesson, she must ‘swipe on’ to a music lesson using her Student Card. The machine is located adjacent to the music tutorial rooms in the Hildegard Centre. At the end of the lesson, she must ‘swipe out’ of her music lesson and then return to normal classes. If my daughter experiences any issues with ‘swiping on’ or ‘swiping out’, she is to seek assistance from Ms Dalla Fontana who is located at the reception desk in the Hildegard Centre
- If my daughter has an assessment task, excursion or other school function to attend on the day and time of her scheduled lesson, she must inform the Instrumental Tutor during the previous week’s lesson.Students will receive either a make-up lesson or be credited for the next term. Students have 2 weeks’ notice of upcoming assessment tasks and more notice of upcoming excursions. Failure to inform the Instrumental Tutor will result in the lesson fee being charged
- If she is unwell during a lesson, it is her responsibility to tell the Instrumental Tutor
- Respect the property of the College and will leave every space used for rehearsals clean and tidy
- Display good conduct and/or manners. If not, she will be given a warning. If this behaviour does not improve then she will be requested to withdraw from the program
- She will pay attention to any teacher and/or student assistant that is organising any aspect of a lesson or performance
- She is encouraged to be involved in the ensemble program to further develop her skills and experience.
