Daze Magazine is a print magazine in the field of fashion and lifestyle that focuses on minimalism and graphic design in achieving an overall aesthetic product. It is set to be produced in springtime, so the magazine edition has notions to spring throughout its photographs and articles. This project focuses on photography, graphic design and promotional advertisement material. I had my sister as a model, I used Adobe Lightroom to edit my photography, Adobe Photoshop to do digital drawings and further enhance photos, Adobe Indesign to create the layout and final product and, Adobe After Effects to create a supporting material of an advertisement to promote my project.

Scape is a cinematic music video that was based around the excitement of new technology and the sense of escape that it can bring. The video follows a girl who uses a new piece of technology called ‘CyberScape’ to teleport through different landscapes. I created my music using Adobe Audition to put together sounds from different songs and edited the original song I was going to use. I used a variety of camera angles and movements such as panning shots and I also used Adobe Premiere Pro to put these shots together. I added a variety of special effects to add to the futuristic theme of my video which were mainly created in Adobe After Effects. These include an opening motion graphics animation, cyborg eye effect, teleportation effect, glitch transitions and animation which all contribute to the futuristic theme. I also added colour grading to my video to give it a more crisp and digital look that conveys my message.

Fetch Quest is a 2D video game that features a dog named Clover who needs to retrieve berries from two mischievous individuals. Along the way, they’ll meet a cast of quirky and colourful characters as well as fight a range of bug enemies with their trusty stick. This project was created with the Unity engine and Playmaker, a visual scripting tool and Unity add-on that covered the “programming” aspects of the game. Aseprite was used to create the assets for the game: the animations, characters, and environment. Combat was inspired by the original Legend of Zelda however the characters and art style drew inspiration from various indie video games such as Undertale. Adobe InDesign was used to create the portfolio that outlines the development of this project.

Silent Lucidity is a six-minute conceptual music video based on the progressive rock ballad ‘Silent Lucidity’ by Queensrÿche. The primary concept of the video is focused on the idea of lucid dreaming, though there is no clear storyline that emerges. It also features musical footage of varying musicians playing the song and expressionist scenery footage of various locations. The combination of these elements communicates the intended purpose, which is to create a visually engaging, and emotionally stimulating film, specifically to generate a resonating sense of comfort in the audience through contrasting narrative fear and resolution, reminiscent of the values exhibited in the music choice. To create this, I utilised a variety of different pre and post-production effects such as black and white colour filtering, transitions, chiaroscuro lighting, illusory effects, camera angles, and text effects using programs such as Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop. Additionally, two other components were included in my final major project including an animation that was integrated into my music video and a CD design. The purpose of these was to demonstrate further technical ability in areas of graphic design and animation and similarly communicate the values of my film in a new depth.

A Musical World is a short 35 second promotional video that centres around the protagonist playing the piano and falling into another dimension, which is inspired by numerous anime series I have watched contained with slice-of-life genres. The promotional video uses a 3D book animation template that is fully edited in Adobe After Effects, exported, and finally edited in Adobe Premiere Pro to add sound effects and green screens to heighten my skills in editing and bring my story to life. My second component following up from this, is a double-spread comic that has 36 pages in total that is formatted in Adobe InDesign and exported as a pdf file that reveals a full, developed storyline of my original idea, which furthermore involves my technical skills such as drawing numerous panels that would make up the comic in Adobe Photoshop, arranging shapes, texts and visualising a range of comic layouts in Adobe InDesign.

The Saboteur Within is a four-minute short clip that was inspired by the popular game, Among us. The storyline starts in the middle of a game where two people have been killed. The aim is for the crewmates to discover who is the imposter among them. There was an intense discussion, and unfortunately, one person had to go. The final scene is a dramatic water death. The film's main focus was the variety of camera shots and angles to create different moods such as loss and defeat. In addition to using a standard DSLR camera, I took it one step further and used a GoPro for the water scene to help make it more dramatic. The costume design was kept simple, just how it is in the game. Everyone is allocated a colour and they must perform tasks. To create this short film, I used Adobe software such as Adobe Photoshop for most designs, Adobe Premiere Pro to edit the short film, and Adobe InDesign to create my portfolio.

Never Let Me Go is a three-minute music video based on the concept of two sisters' relationship. The story follows the main character, Emily regaining the memory of her sister, Ellie, through their past experiences. The audience soon discovers that Ellie loved to spend time at the beach through multiple video effects. As the video progresses, we see Emily regaining the memory of her sister by travelling to the beach. Once Emily first visits the beach, the relief and acceptance that her sister is no longer alive allows her to feel fulfilled. To create my video, I used the Software programs of Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects. As part of my project, I added sound on a different layer to further depict a sad video. I added multiple sounds of ambulances, children and crying sounds to add a more cinematic effect.

Snot is a 12-page variety magazine including articles on fashion, music, and lifestyle. The magazine's design, Snot, is inspired by the English virtual band, Gorillaz, a band created within a fictional universe represented through animated clips, interviews, and music. The grunge, cartoon-like aesthetic of the band has influenced me to use an inspired art style for my magazine. The design was created using animated graphics that represent a group of friends. Within my magazine, I have four individual characters, each inspired by a friend of mine that contrasts with each other to create a unique cast that is featured in the magazine, each with their own personality, style and interests that will influence their articles. To complete this project, I used Adobe software such as InDesign, Photoshop and Lightroom.

Scorched is an animation with components of cinematic features that focuses on the idea of living in a world where climate change plays a significant factor. The animation was created on Adobe Photoshop at ten frames per second. The animation was completed using the rotoscoping animation technique. The animation was drawn digitally, one frame at a time using my stylus pen by hand. I drew approximately 740 frames to create the final animation. After drawing each frame, colour was added to different sections of the animation to emphasise the importance, i.e., the face mask. Throughout the project, I have utilised Adobe Suites, including Adobe After Effects to create logo animations and realistic planet features. Adobe Premiere Pro was also used to create a futuristic hologram effect. During the project's postproduction stage, the video was all edited using Adobe Premiere Pro by adding sound effects, transitions, and a background backing track.

UFO is a digital magazine that covers topics such as fashion, technology, pop culture and art and craft. It centres around a funky, retro space theme enhanced by the magazine’s vibrant colours and unique illustrations. To create the illustrations and titles, I used Paint Tool SAI, Adobe Illustrator and Piskel. To edit images, I used Adobe Photoshop. I collated the magazine’s elements and content in Adobe InDesign. Throughout the magazine, I used various colour palettes, text effects such as wrap and envelope distort, image effects using the ‘camera raw filter’ tool. My project features an additional component - a promotional 20-second animation. To create the animation, I used Adobe Photoshop’s ‘timeline’ feature. My animation aims to promote the topics within the magazine component. It also maintains the vibrant colour palette and art style of the magazine, reinforcing my project’s theme. Furthermore, it features a backing track of the song ‘Macross 82.99 FM’, which was edited using Adobe Audition. Effects were added to the audio, such as the ‘Radio AM’ effect.

Fish Boy is a two-minute 2D animation Made in Adobe software with a 12 frames per second framerate. The animation tells the story of a young male named Pluto, discovering a goldfish in his mundane adult work life. The animation follows Pluto in his journey of realisation with themes of escapism and nostalgia. To create the final product, I used multiple professional level Adobe software including, Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects allowing me to create of a high quality. I mainly used Photoshop as it had a built-in timeline that allowed me to create a 2D animation at any framerate. It also included a flexible workplace with painting software that allowed me to easily paint out each frame. Fish Boy features the song ‘Gimme Love’ by Joji, this song works along the animation in the build-up of the storyline.
