The Sister Christopher Burrows Scholarship

Sister Christopher Burrows was the foundation Principal of the College. Her term as Principal from 1966 to 1973 saw Mount St Benedict grow from an idea into reality. As the leader of this community, Sister Christopher was truly a person of vision. We give thanks for her years of service and hope that a new generation of students will benefit from her work in establishing Good Samaritan Education at Mount St Benedict College.

The number of full or part tuition scholarships awarded will be at the discretion of the Principal. All other costs, including Technology Levy, Capital Levy, P&F Levy, cocurricular activities and uniforms, are required to be met in full by families. The College’s non-refundable Expression of Interest Fee and Enrolment Acceptance Fee must be paid by the family prior to applying for a Mount St Benedict College Scholarship.

Prerequisites:

  • A letter of acceptance of enrolment for the Year 7 academic year
  • Registration for Level 1 of the ACER examination in the year prior to entry

Application for Mount St Benedict College Scholarship Program

Application for any of our Scholarships requires students to register for and sit an ACER examination in the year prior to entry. Applications open in late September and close in early February the following year. To apply for any of these scholarships, please access the ACER website.

Cost

The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) who operate the examination, charge a fee for each student sitting the exam. In 2024, this fee is $145.00 per student. The exam will be conducted at the College on Saturday 24 February 2024. An email from ACER, containing details and instructions, is sent to all registered applicants prior to the exam.

Applications for Year 7 in 2025 will be opened on Monday 26 September 2023 and will close on Sunday 4 February 2024.

Scholarship Conditions

Scholarship recipients will be notified by email during Term Two. It is assumed that scholarships will be accepted in good faith and that the behaviour, effort and involvement of the student concerned would be of an appropriate level. In the case where this is not so, the College reserves the right to withdraw the Scholarship.

Examination Results

All applicants will be notified by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) for access to their online results.
