Learning at Mount St Benedict College is best encapsulated in the words of Lee Crocket who calls on schools to prepare students for their future not our past.

Assessment Overview

Assessment practices at Mount St Benedict reflect the understanding that information gained from assessment can be used to shape the teaching and learning process (assessment for learning) and can be used to give feedback to the learner which enables them to make further improvements in their learning. This is reflected in the College assessment template, used in Years 7 to 12, for all formal assessment tasks.

Students in Years 10 to 12 are issued with an Assessment Handbook and Schedule at the beginning of each year. In Years 7 to 9 students are given a schedule of assessments at the beginning of each year which is available on Benniesnet. Assessments include a broad range of different types of tasks including research tasks, in-class tests, oral presentations, formal examinations, products based on different technologies, performance pieces and many others.
