CAPA Music Instrumental Tuition and Ensembles Application

The Music Instrumental Tuition Program caters for students who wish to learn or further develop their skills on a particular instrument. Students can choose from a wide range of instruments including:

        Guitar/Electric Bass

         Percussion/ Drumkit
        Cello/Double Bass

Lessons occur during class time for half an hour once a week on a rotating schedule. Private lessons cater for the individual and students can progress at their level of ability. Instrumental tutors who are proficient performers and teachers conduct these lessons.

Private Tuition: $39.00 per lesson (student and tutor) Approximately 8 - 10 lessons per term.

Tuition fees are paid to the instrumental tutor who will invoice you at the commencement of each term. Accounts should be finalised within two weeks of receiving them. A minimum 24 hours notice must be given if they are unable to attend their lesson. Failure to do this will result in the lesson fee being charged. If at any time a student wishes to discontinue lessons four weeks written notification to the Instrumental Tutor and the CAPA Co-curricular and Peripatetic Co-Ordinator must be given.

Students generally have their own instruments. We can assist you in finding music stores from which you can purchase or hire instruments. A small number of specialist instruments may be offered to students to perform in the Middle Years Wind Ensemble and MSB Concert Band.

Students undertaking private lessons are encouraged to participate in an Ensemble.

The Creative and Performing Arts Department (CAPA) would like to invite incoming students to enrol in Music Ensembles for 2018. The following Ensembles are available:

        • College Choir
        • The Middle Years Wind Ensemble (students commence in this ensemble and can graduate to the MSB Concert Band)
        • Flute Choir
        • Clarinet Choir
        • String Ensemble (violin, viola, cello and double bass)

Each of these groups rehearse separately once a week. The girls perform at College events, performance evenings, Eisteddfods, liturgies and assemblies, as well as external events and workshops as opportunities arise.

Students who have been in similar groups in primary school are encouraged to join our MSB Ensembles in 2018.
