Abigail Curtin
wins Pierre de Coubertin Award
Congratulations to Abigail Curtin (Year 12) who was recently
presented with the Prestigious Pierre de Coubertin Award
at the Australian Olympic Academy Day. Abigail received her
award from Olympian Kitty Chiller who is also Australia's chef
de mission for the Rio Olympics.
Abigail has competed for the school in many representative
sports teams during her time at the College including
basketball and athletics this year. She went on to gain
selection into the BBSSSA Athletics Team and NSW CCC Open
Girls Basketball Team. She also coached the MSB Junior
Representative Basketball Team that qualified for the NSW
CCC Championships.
Abigail is a mature role model who displays great
sportsmanship and was also the recipient of the MSB Year 12
Sports Woman of the Year Principal's Award.
Cross Country
Stanbrook once again won the MSB Cross Country
Championships in 2015. The MSB Cross Country Team then
proceeded to bring home the Broken Bay Championship
trophy for an incredible 9th time in the past 10 years. Alicia
John (Year 7), Jemma Gallagher (Year 9), Capri Vidler (Year
9), Elly Gallagher (Year 10), and Kirsten Simpson (Year 11)
went on to compete at the NSW All Schools Championships
on a freezing winter’s day at Eastern Creek.
Netball
Our MSB Representative
Netballers won three of
the four titles at this year’s
BBSSSA Championships.
Our Year 7, Junior and
Intermediate Teams all
finished as undefeated
champions. It was great to
see so many current students officiating as umpires for us at
the carnival. Congratulations also to Georgia Dean and Sasha
Savenko who were selected into the NSW CCC Under 15 Team.
Soccer
The MSB Open Soccer Team
had another great year finishing
as undefeated Broken Bay
Champions and progressing
through to the quarter finals
of the NSW CCC Knock-Out
Competition. It was great to
have Year 11 student Ashleigh
Schaafsma-Fullick officiate at the quarter finals as an assistant
referee. Grace Gibbeson, Caitlin Crammond and Alex Black were
selected into the Broken Bay Team, with Alex then representing
the NSW CCC Open team as the goal keeper.
Athletics
Our Intermediate girls won their
divisions at the Broken Bay
Championships and individually
two of our students won Age
Champion – Under 14 Amie Bowrey
and Under 16 Elly Gallagher. Ten
MSB students qualified for the
NSW CCC Championships after
