European Sports Tour
Sixty girls and nine staff (five netball teams and a soccer
team) had an amazing adventure during the April holidays
on the European Sports Tour.
Our girls played a total of 57 games in France and England
and needless to say were exhausted on many occasions,
but always represented our College with pride and were
great ambassadors.
One of the highlights was our 16A Netball Team winning
their international tournament in France during the first
week, finishing as undefeated champions!
There were so many other highlights – the way the girls
interacted with their foreign opposition, sharing their
enthusiasm as they climbed (yes climbed!) the Eiffel tower
just hours after getting off the long plane trip, attending
inspirational Good Friday and Easter Sunday masses (after
a bus break down created an ‘amazing race’ style challenge
to get there on time in the pouring rain), testing the
acoustics at Wembley stadium, walking from Notre Dame
to the Champs Elysee, tasting Nutella and banana crepes,
riding the London Eye, adapting to different interpretations
of game rules by foreign officials, experiencing Euro Disney
with their friends and watching the girls confidence grow
as they became responsible for their own diet, nutrition,
hydration, injury treatment, packing and budgeting at such
a young age (some only 13!).
